Kamers/Makers Moves To Rondebosch

  • by

The biggest pop-up retail event in South Africa is back… in a cool new venue.

You might know it as Kamers Vol Geskenke, but it’s had a name change… These days, it goes by the name of Kamers/Makers and, like previous years, brings shoppers an unprecedented mind-bustingly creative shopping experience.

This year’s event is taking place at St Joseph’s Marist College in Rondebosch – an historical venue that will become a shopping mecca between 28 February and 4 March 2018, when more than 150 of the best local “makers” proffer their wares.

If you’ve ever been to any Kamers/Makers events, you’ll know that participating exhibitors are not your run-of-the-mill designers and crafters; they have been hand-picked by the Kamers/Makers team for their unique, rare and “perfectly imperfect” items of fashion, jewellery, art, lighting, decor, and more. You’ll be able to find everything from hand-carved wooden bow ties, hand-turned wine-barrel furniture, handcrafted porcelain jewellery, and even hand-spun scarves, from a variety of Kamers/Makers veterans, and some exciting newbies.

The event is a double win: it provides a platform for young designers to establish themselves in the competitive market, while also giving the public a chance to buy rare, one-of-a-kind pieces. And if you’re a Kamers/Makers veteran, you’ll know that it’s more than just a shopping experience; there’s always delicious food, good wine and great live music.

The event is strictly cashless, so be sure to bring your cards. Let’s get shopping!

Date: 28 February 2018 – 4 March 2018

Time: Wednesday – Sunday, 9am – 5pm

Venue:  St Joseph’s Marist College, Belmont Road, Rondebosch, Cape Town
