Newlands Tree Trail
Following the launch of the Tree Trail in Tokai in 2025, the Newlands team from Chas Everitt International have chosen to bring this project to the Newlands area in 2026.
Like residents of Tokai, residents of Newlands will be invited to participate in the Tree Trail project, which in essence identifies various trees in the area and locates them on a map based webapp on www.treetrail.org
Users of the app will choose the Tree Trail area on the home page (at this point Tokai or Newlands) and after the area is selected the map of Newlands will display the identified trees as well as places of interest.
Tree sponsorship opportunities (R250-00 a tree for three years) will serve to raise funds for approved Newlands greening projects that are aligned with the objective to promote awareness of trees in the area, as well as to look after their well being and planting of more trees in the area Funds raised with also pay for individual tree plaques and information boards to be displayed near the trees to identify them and through use of a reference number and/or QR code provide visitors with more information on that specific tree.
