We are extremely fortunate to have Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden on our doorstep. One of the most beautiful botanical gardens in the world.
Kirstenbosch Gardens was founded in 1913 to preserve the flora indigenous to South Africa. At that time, invasive species were not considered an ecological and environmental problem. It was the first botanical garden in the world with this ethos.
Sally, Lynne and their families have enjoyed many walks and picnics in the beautiful and tranquil gardens and recommend the guided garden tours and the art exhibitions. The popular tree canopy walkway and the mostly serpentine stone carvings are essential.
Of course, the restaurant, tea room and coffee shop are perennially popular! Garden centre and nursery and the gift shop and book shop are a must and the Summer concerts are legendary!
