In celebration of Nelson Mandela Day on Friday, July 18, 2025, the Newlands team from Chas Everitt Cape Town South hosted a special tea party for the residents of Creswell House in Newlands.
The event was a heartwarming and fun affair, filled with music, treats, and community spirit.
The residents were entertained by our special guest for the event, Gordon Rocker, who had everyone rocking and filled the room with fun.
In the spirit of giving, each resident received a goodie bag with treats. These were made possible through the generous contributions of several sponsors, including STBB (Team Nicole), Betterbond (Liz Botha), AfricanExtracts.com – Rob Tiffin, LeliveAfrica.com (Iain Craven).
Adding to the excitement, there were lucky draws with gifts sponsored by local businesses. A lucky lady won a haircut and blow-dry from Snippets Hair Salon, courtesy of Constanze. Other prizes included cappuccinos for two from Jameel at Knead, our special bakery in Dean Street, and a meal voucher for two from Mamma Roma, sponsored by Chef Romano and Cristina Gorrini. Another excited resident won the Norma’s Homebakes large hamper of biscuits.
The festive atmosphere was further enhanced by beautiful roses donated by Nostalgie flowers in the Constantia Emporium. In a thoughtful, personal touch, Charmaine Weiner and Marj Daniel knitted beautiful mittens and headbands, which were much loved by the ladies of Creswell House.
The successful event was a result of dedicated teamwork from the Chas Everitt Cape Town South team orchestrated by Sally Shaw, Lynne Crosland and Barbara van der Westhuizen and Maria Fish (The Newlands Team). Cakes and savouries were all home made and donated by fellow agents. The celebration left the residents of Creswell House feeling delighted and very spoilt, truly honouring the spirit of Mandela Day.
